QUILT AS YOU GO (a)

Make a small quilt while learning the "quilt as you go" method (quilting small sections of the quilt and then sewing these together).  Beginners and experienced quilters welcome.  Students will also learn simple piecing and quilting techniques.  Some of the sewing will be in class with instructor help.  A supply list be given to you when you register.

PAPER PIECING (a)

Paper piecing is a sewing technique that can be used to help with accuracy.  You can use the technique to make small blocks or large blocks in quilts/borders.  In this class, you will learn to piece some small traditional blocks.  At the end of the class you will have 3+ small blocks.  All sewing will be done in class with instructor help.  A supply list will be given to you when you register.

BEGINNING QUILTING USING TEMPLATES (a)

This course offers beginners an overview of the quilting process from the design state to piecing blocks/adding borders to quilting the finished top.  Students will learn a new cutting/piecing technique each week while working on a sampler quilt.  Using templates for accuracy will be stressed.  A supply list will be passed out at the first meeting.

CRAZY QUILTING (a)

In this class, you will learn crazy quilting techniques while completing a few small blocks.  This is a fun way of quilting with very few "rules".  Beginner and experienced quilters are welcome.  All sewing will be done in class with instructors help.  A supply list will be given to you when you register.

Enrollment is limited to 12 students. Learn to sew, including basic techniques of clothing construction, sewing for the home, and creating unique gifts. Learn about fabric and pattern , pattern lay out, construction methods, plus how to understand and safely use a sewing machine, and factors in the selection of your sewing machine.  Factory sewing tips included.  These are skills that will last a lifetime. ESL and returning students welcome.

CONTINUING BASIC SEWING II (a)

Enrollment is limited to 12 students. Continue learning basic sewing skills. Make a simple garment: a skirt or pants, and then a top with pockets, darts and facings, button-holes, zippers, seam finishing and hems. Learn more machine and hand stitching skills, use sewing accessories and how to identify many kinds of fabric. Join us to continue exploring the realm of creativity and satisfaction in making your own clothing.

 There will be a small fee for a pattern and materials to be paid to the instructor.

CREATIVE MENDING & ALTERING (a)    CANCELLED

Enrollment is limited to 8 students. Previous machine sewing experience required. In this smaller class there will be more opportunity for individual attention in learning more hand and machine sewing skills. Want to shorten your pants or alter your skirt waistline, patch or alter that favorite dress or shirt? Come learn  mending and altering techniques such as patching holes, altering waistlines, changing necklines or hems and replacing zippers. Bring a garment to alter or repair and your sewing kit.

There may be a small fee for materials to be paid to the instructor.

CREATIVE FABRIC COLLAGE & EMBELLISH (a)    CANCELLED

Enrollment is limited to 10 students. Previous sewing experience required. Learn creative fabric-collage and embellishing techniques such as machine appliqué, free-motion machine embroidery and other techniques.  You can satin-stitch or free-motion embroider pieces of layered fabric to create original designs.  Incorporate buttons, beads or trim. Bring a garment to embellish or make a beautiful fabric collage wall hanging.  Bring pieces of fabric, buttons, beads, trim, cord, etc. to play with in class.

There may be a small fee for materials to be paid to the instructor.

MAKE A BAG WITH POCKETS, ZIPPERS & BUTTONS (a)

Enrollment is limited to 8 students. Previous sewing experience required. Come  have fun making a very practical tote bag with lots of zippered pockets or to make one that's also embellished for yourself or as a gift.  We will make canvas bags with pockets, flaps, zippers and buttons practicing intermediate level sewing skills.

There may be a small fee for materials to be paid to the instructor.

FABRIC STORE TOUR WORKSHOP (a)    CANCELLED

Enrollment is limited to 8 students. Previous sewing experience required. The instructor will lead students on a tour through a well-known local independent fabric store explaining the different areas-such as notions, patterns, buttons, cotton, fleece, silk, wool, linen-and how they relate to the information on your pattern envelope.

BRING PROJECTS TO FINISH (a)

Enrollment is limited to 8 students. Previous machine sewing experience required. Bring projects you started at home or in other classes, your sewing kit and machine. Come work together in this friendly, supportive class with help from the instructor, learning more hand and machine sewing skills.
