IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

WCCAE offers a high school program for adults ages 18 or older. Upon completion of the requirements a high school diploma is awarded. Requirements for graduation include: completion of 180 required credits, passing the CAHSEE (Exit Exam), and passing the CASAS Reading and Math Assessment.

The CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam) is given several arial during the school year. A person must be enrolled in the High School program to be eligible to take the CAHSEE. For more information on the enrollment process, call 215-4666, ext 207.

There will be a $15 charge per term for enrollment is HS/ABE classes.

NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION

All new students (18 years or older) must participate in a required 3-session orientation. Orientations are generally held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings (6:00-9:00pm) at the Serra Campus.

You can request to be placed on the waiting list for the Orientation by calling 215-4666. You will be notified the dates and arial of the next available orientation.

New students are required to bring an official transcript to the orientation.

There will be a $15 charge per term for enrollment in the High School/ABE classes.

All new GED candidates must participate in Phase I. This 12-hour course consists of assessing your skills to determine how well prepared you are to take the GED exam. After you have completed all of the assessments, the instructor will help you decide if you are ready to take the GED or go to Phase II - GED Test Preparation.

TEST PREPARATION

This program is for students who have completed GED Test Orientation, Phase I and would like to take work home, then return it on a weekly basis. When you meet with the Distance Learning instructor, you will receive individual tutoring and assignments that help you focus on the GED examination.

You must complete Phase I (see above) before you can begin Phase II. If your GED pre-test scores show that you are ready to study for the GED tests, this is the class for you. This class concentrates on the six specific tests and test-taking skills.

CLASE DE PREPARACION PARA GED EN ESPANOL

Esta clase es para aquellas personas que prefieren estudiar y prepararse para tomar el examen de GED en español. Usted hará pruebas de práctica en el área de literatura, matemáticas, escritura, ciencias naturales y ciencias sociales. Las clases de matemáticas y ciencias naturales tendrán lugar los días lunes y miércoles. Las clases de lenguaje y ciencias sociales serán los martes y jueves. Las clases son en Contra Costa College, 2600 Mission Bell Dr. San Pablo.

GED EXAM (must be 18 years of age)    CLASS PAGE

WCCAE offers the GED test in Spanish or English. Registration for the GED exam takes place at the Serra Campus. The process takes approximately 1 hour. Proper identification is required at the time of registration and admission to the test on both evenings. The enrollment deadline is 48 hours prior to the test date; provided there is space available. At registration, a state mandated survey must be completed. Preparation for the GED Exam should include Phase I.t. For more information, call 215-4666.

NOTE: The GED exam is made up of five individual tests. You may take the entire test for $130 or one or more tests at a time by paying $50 registration plus $20 per test taken.

INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT EXAM REVIEW (DISTANCE LEARNING)    CLASS PAGE

WCCAE is offering test preparation for the WCCUSD’s Instructional Assistant Exam through Distance Learning. Anyone interested in preparing for the exam should meet with the Distance Learning Instructor for testing and instructional materials to take home then return on a weekly basis.

TEST PREPARATION

WCCUSD INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT EXAMINATION    CLASS PAGE

WCCAE will be administering the Instructional Assistant Exam for current and/or potential employees.  Participants must register for the exam at the WCCUSD Personnel Office, 1108 Bissell Ave.  Richmond. (Sandy Gomez at 231-1168.)

TEST PROCEDURES: Walk-ins will not be accepted. No children are allowed in the testing room.  Testing participants must show a picture ID before entering the testing room. Additional tests may be added as needed. For mor information call (510)231-1165
