HEALTH AND FITNESS AEROBICS•DAYAN-QIGONG•TAI-CHI •YOGA•RELAXATION•OSTEOPOROSIS•TRAFFIC SCHOOL•CPR•FIRST AID White Lettering On Blue Designates Full Class When starting a new physical activity, it is recommended that you check with your doctor first. This program is designed to improve the efficiency of the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, as well as strengthen and tone the muscles and joints of the body. It is a three-part program that includes warm-ups, cardiovascular training, and a cool down. Exercises emphasize smooth, continuous and rhythmical movements. The 60-minute aerobic workout will leave you energized yet relaxed, and you will have FUN. Please bring an exercise mat. These classes are for adults of all ages.
Students will learn one of the most popular forms of Qigong used in China tod DaYan Qigong means the Wild Goose Form. This practice consists of 64 movements that flow from one movement into the next. In addition to learning the form, the students will learn a warm up set of exercises to increase flexibility and balance. Students are encouraged to “move at their own pace.” Adaptations can be easily made for people with motor impairments or mobility concerns. Part A includes moves 1-32 of Dayan Qigong. Part B includes moves 33-64. Students that are taking Part B must have taken Part A to participate.
ACU-POINT QI-GONG EXERCISE (c) This class will be taught by an experienced Acupuncturist/Qi-gong master. You will learn points on your body, which are energy sources for healing. Learn about Qi-gong the energy flow in your body. Apply stimulating methods on acu-points and balance your health.
The gentle art of meditation through movement is taught through a series of easy-to-learn movement patterns, which focus on self-awareness and flow. T’ai Chi is healthful for all ages and physical conditions.
(Kundalini) Techniques of breathing, stretching, strengthening and relaxation combine to reduce accumulated tension, improve circulation and increase overall stamina and flexibility. This vigorous yet relaxing form of yoga will give you an immediate experience of increased vitality and mental clarity. This class is designed for both beginners and more experienced yoga students. You can progress at your own rate and work comfortably at your own level of fitness. You may enroll in both classes if you desire. Please bring a blanket or mat.
YOGA II (c) This class builds on the techniques in Yoga I. Includes more challenging exercises and postures and more advanced meditation techniques.
HATHA YOGA (c) Develop balance and concentration while you discover peace, no matter what you are going through. Yoga is capable of changing your world from the inside out with simple postures, twists, meditations and breathing techniques. There is no substitute for the joy experienced during yoga movement. Physical freedom awaits you within Hatha Yoga. This class will show you how to gently unfold to become more flexible in body and mind. Come play and be happy. “The heart is wiser than the mind.”
Enrollment is limited to 15 students. Learn 8 simple exercises to build strength, do 30 minutes only twice a week, add weights as appropriate and gain years of healthy living. This program guides students through slow moving, down to earth, balanced concentric and eccentric muscle actions, designed to minimize pain. This is an 8 hour course established with the cooperation of Public Education Providers and the Department of Motor Vehicles (D.M.V.). The course is open to all individuals who have been given this option. • Please arrive at least 15 minutes before scheduled start time.

West Contra Costa • Attendance at the 8 hour session is mandatory to satisfactorily complete the course. • Transfers are allowed once only. You must register in person at the Adult School office.
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation CPR–Community (a/c) Enrollment limited to 15 students. Are you prepared? More people know how to jump-start a car than they do a heart. This course is designed for the general public and will teach Emergency Action Principles. You will learn what to do in emergencies that involve breathing, choking or heart attack and how to recognize emergencies for adults, children and infants. Students who pass this course will receive a National Safety Council card. The card is valid for two years. (Students must be on time to attend.)
This course teaches everything in Community CPR plus First Aid.
If you want to learn Adult CPR and First Aid skills then take this course. Includes skills in rescue breathing, chokesaving and Adult CPR; treatment for bleeding, fractures, burns, etc. This course meets CAL-OSHA, Fed. OSHA, residential care and school bus drivers’ licensing requirements.
FIRST AID AND PREPAREDNESS (a) NEW! “TOGETHER WE PREPARE” is a nationwide initiative of the American Red Cross to help everyone prepare for emergencies and disasters before they happen.
