WCCAE and the local Amateur Radio (HAM) community are offering a class intended to provide the student with an Entry Level License (Technician Class License). If you are a CERT member and would like to be able to provide your community with access to the local EOC in times of emergency then this is the class for you. Police, Fire and other governmental personnel may find this license helpful. Also, boaters and other citizens may want to use Amateur Radio as an added communication option for fun and relaxation as well for emergencies. This course will consist of 5 weeks of instruction followed by a test session. Significant home study of the test and question pool is expected of the student.

A handbook/manual/text will be required and will be available on the first day of instruction for approximately $25.  There will be a $14 FCC filing fee for taking the test.  The class, "Using your Radio" will immediately follow this class. For more information contact: John Wood, (510) 741-7050.

The 4-session class to follow the 6-week Technician License class is intended to acquaint the student with the skills required to program and to operate your own HAM Radio Handheld Transceiver. The minimum requirements for the class are an Amateur Radio License and your own 2 Meter Radio. A Yaesu FT-60R will be used in the class demonstrations but any 2 Meter Radio will be acceptable.

With such notable talent as James Earl Jones, Linda Hunt and Donald Sutherland lending their voices to commercials, films, and videos, one would think that it would be next to impossible to break into this field. Not so! In this class you’ll learn about an exciting new way to get around the competition and actually turn voice-overs into a thriving full or part time business.
